** Last Night, Parliament Spoke Up:
------------------------------------------------------------
** Democracy is Taking Centre Stage
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear John,
We’re thrilled to share that last night’s Parliamentary event — celebrating the APPG for Fair Elections becoming the largest cross-party group in Parliament — was a resounding success.
New polling shows that most people are in favour of our call for a National Commission for Electoral Reform (NCER). The public support this proposal by 5:1, as you can see below:

We’re meeting the moment.
This huge win for the APPG comes as local elections demonstrate the potential for the far-right to abuse FPTP and win a minority government.
There is an overwhelming demand for change in Britain.
Trust in politics seems on the brink of total collapse.
Labour MP Abtisan Mohamed put it simply last night: "The volatility we saw at the local elections adds urgency and strength to our arguments - but at the core or this is needing to ensure everyone is represented - that every vote matters."

** Here’s what else last night’s speakers had to say:
------------------------------------------------------------
APPG Chair Alex Sobel MP said:
“There are more than 130 MPs in our APPG - more than the Official Opposition. It shows the strength of support across Parliament for fair elections"
APPG Vice-Chair Ellie Chowns said:
"Our voting system simply cannot cope - and it needs to change. The first step is a National Commission for Electoral Reform. I hope everyone here will join us in making the case for the government to act."
Rob Ford, Professor of Politics at Manchester University, said:
"We've now entered what I've described as the zone of electoral chaos. To have system that can spit out any random result like a fruit machine is not in anyone's interest."
Lib-Dem MP and APPG Member Manuela Perteghella said:
"Trust in politics is faltering. More than two thirds of people support a cap on political donations. There is a perception that big money buys influence."
Parth Patel of the Institute for Public Policy Research said:
"The first steps are the sort of thing people in this APPG have been championing... the size of donations are now completely unprecedented, and more concentrated than ever."
Labour MP and APPG Member Blair McDougall said:
"The greatest weapon we have in this global fight against authoritarianism is that our arguments are better than theirs... It's a fight we can win."

** We Need Your Help To Keep This Fight Going
------------------------------------------------------------
Last night’s APPG for Fair Elections event was a celebration of how far we’ve come.
That growth reflects something bigger: the public is waking up to how our broken democracy blocks real progress. First-Past-the-Post is failing. When voters break free from the two-party stranglehold, the only winners are opportunists like Nigel Farage.
But it’s not just the voting system. People are also sick of dark money distorting politics and disinformation polluting debate. The need for comprehensive democratic reform has never been more urgent.
Building the biggest APPG is a huge milestone, but we need your help for what’s coming next. Now, we must use this influence to fix the system.
That means building power both inside Parliament and outside, through a growing mass movement demanding change. We would never have made it this far without your support. Are you with us for the next chapter?
All the very best,
Mark Kieran
