John, did you see our message from Monday? Donald Trump is in Qatar today, and as he negotiates with them we can't help but wonder: Is Trump putting the country's interests first – or his own? Tell Congress to shut down this corruption NOW >>
For more information, see my original email below from earlier this week:
Original email from May 12, 2025:
SIGN NOW: Congress must BLOCK Trump’s $400 million bribe from Qatar >>
John, President Trump is trying to accept a $400 million luxury jet from the government of Qatar – and keep it for himself. [1]
And instead of treating this like the corruption it is, Attorney General Pam Bondi – fresh off of a $115,000 per month lobbying job for Qatar [2] – is rubber-stamping this clear conflict of interest.
That’s right – Trump wants to accept by far the most valuable gift in presidential history from a foreign government, and Bondi, who is supposed to impartially enforce our laws, is giving him the all-clear.
I’m sure we don’t need to spell it out, John: This isn’t an innocent gift, it’s a bribe from a country that wants favorable treatment.
Under the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause and federal law, presidents cannot accept gifts from foreign governments unless Congress explicitly approves them by passing a law. Without that consent, Trump accepting this gift is a violation of federal law and the Constitution.
But this is par for the course for Trump – while working people are struggling to put food on the table, Trump is securing a $400 million luxury plane for himself. Anyone who sees this will rightly wonder: is he working for We The People or the highest bidder?
Tell Congress: REJECT Trump’s shady plane deal from Qatar and hold this administration accountable to working for We The People – not the highest bidder >>
John, here’s what’s happening: Two weeks ago, news broke that Trump is building a $5.5 billion golf club in Qatar. [3] Now, Qatar is offering Trump a $400 million jet to use as Air Force One, and then keep for personal use after his term is over!
Attorney General Bondi is telling the American people that they’re following all the rules, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
This isn’t just shady. It’s a blatant, flying, $400 million violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which bans presidents from accepting any gifts from foreign states without congressional approval. [4]
It’s a symbol of everything Trump, Bondi, and the rest of this administration represent: self-enrichment and corruption – all while pretending they’re working for the people.
Trump and his team are counting on the chaos and noise to distract us – to add this to the list of outrageous things he says and does every day. While he rants about “America First," he’s preparing to accept foreign bribes. We see through it. He’s not working for us – he’s cashing in.
Sign the Petition: Your members of congress must use their authority to block Trump from accepting this foreign bribe.
Thanks for all you do,
The team at Common Cause
