For Mental Health Awareness Month, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is highlighting the transformative power of resilience. As the largest private funder of suicide prevention research, AFSP itself has to remain resilient in our mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide –– something we can’t do without your help.
For our Million in May campaign, we’re asking you to make a gift of $135, in honor of the 135 people estimated to be affected by each individual suicide death. Your generosity will power our scientific research, public policy and advocacy efforts, education and loss support programs, and so much more.
Thanks to funds from dedicated AFSP volunteer Dr. Kelly Posner Gerstenhaber, Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, who was awarded The Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service for her work leading to suicide reduction across the nation, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000 for all donations made now through May 31. That means your dollar will go twice the distance.
We’re halfway through Mental Health Awareness Month, so now is the perfect time to act and make a gift in support of suicide prevention efforts. Your continued commitment to the cause is what keeps us resilient. From all of us at AFSP, thank you.
