What happened to Todd and Krista Kolstad could happen to any faithful parent in America. They didn’t beat their daughter. They didn’t abandon her. They didn’t stop loving her. All they did was refuse to affirm a gender identity they believed would cause her long-term harm. For that, the state of Montana took her away. Their 14-year-old daughter was seized without a warrant, locked in a psychiatric ward, and eventually transferred out of the country to Canada—all because her parents said “we don’t agree.” Colorado lawmakers just passed HB25-1312 and are preparing to permanently shove open the same door.
