Meet Russell:
Born and raised in Surfside Beach, SC, Congressman Russell Fry is the proud and homegrown Representative for South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District.
Growing up in a cinder block home with no heating or air conditioning, Russell learned at an early age that hard work and perseverance pave the only true path to the American Dream.
He watched his parents work day in and day out to make ends meet. And the values they instilled in him during his upbringing led Russell to self-fund both his undergraduate education at the University of South Carolina, and later his law studies at the Charleston School of Law.
At Charleston, Russell served as the President of the Student Bar Association and even helped the school achieve its American Bar Association accreditation.
He went on to practice law in the Grand Strand area for over a decade before entering the political arena to serve in the South Carolina House of Representatives for State House District 106 (Horry County).
During his seven-year tenure in the SC House, Russell fought to safeguard Constitutional liberties, lower taxes, and put the best interests of South Carolina families above all else.
He climbed the ranks to become Chief Majority Whip, and also chaired the House Opioid Prevention Study Committee. Under Russell’s leadership, 18 policy initiatives to combat the opioid crisis were signed into law.
Since the first day he stepped foot in Washington, Russell has strived to shake up the corrupt status quo and deliver real change for the American people. He believes adamantly that so long as the American people stand united, we can keep the American Dream alive for every citizen of our great nation.
Russell is a dedicated husband to his wife, Bronwen, and a loving father to his son, James. The family lives in Murrells Inlet with their chocolate lab, Jasper.
