This is illegal, it’s wrong, and I’m fighting back.
Breaking news:
I just filed TWO new lawsuits against the Trump administration for trying to unlawfully impose immigration enforcement requirements on billions of dollars in annual U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grants.
California receives over $15.7 billion in federal grant funding from DOT to support and maintain our roads, highways, railways, airways, and bridges, as well as around $20 billion in DHS grants to prepare for, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks and other catastrophes.
President Trump is threatening to yank these critical funds if states do not fall in line with his demands to carry out his anti-immigrant agenda, including mass deportations by ICE.
He’s treating these funds, which have nothing to do with immigration enforcement and everything to do with the safety of our communities, as a political bargaining chip to bully state and local governments into submission. But this is not a game.
It’s illegal, it’s wrong, and I’m fighting back.
I’ll continue taking the President to court each time he breaks the law and puts Californians’ interests on the line. If you’re with me, will you pitch in $5 to fuel our people-powered campaign now?
