In-District Updates
There’s no place like home! I had a busy and productive in-district work period in April, where I had the opportunity to hear from you all, meet many wonderful people, and make sure I’m taking your stories from Minnesota’s Third Congressional District back with me to Congress.
A great town hall with Attorney General Keith Ellison and state Rep. Patty Acomb!
Thanks to everyone who attended our Minnetonka town hall with Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and our moderator, state Rep. Patty Acomb! It was great to see more than 1,300 of you turn out to share your stories and the AG and I were happy to answer your questions.
Thank you to everyone who joined us early for the community gathering and shared your story with us. I’m reading through everything you shared and what you’re advocating for… stay tuned for more!
Some of the 1300+ people who attended our Minnetonka town hall!
Many thanks to these National Guard leaders for the tour of the future site of the Anoka Armory. Thank you for your service and for all you do to keep us safe!
Warning About What Medicaid Cuts Would Mean for Minnesotans
Congressional Republicans' budget proposal threatens to slash Medicaid by at least $880 billion dollars – which would have disastrous effects on Minnesota. I joined Governor Tim Walz, Minnesota Medicaid Director John Conolly, and Medicaid advocates to emphasize how essential Medicaid is for our state and our communities.
The Third District is a veritable ecosystem of amazing small businesses and creative entrepreneurs. Fat Pants Brewing in Eden Prairie hosted a round table discussion with some of our local brewery owners, and I heard about the challenges they face, and why they love their work. In addition to being hard-working, job-creating entrepreneurs, they’re also integral parts of our communities. I appreciate the time they took to share their ideas for how government can best help their efforts and I’m taking their ideas to Washington.
I had the privilege of speaking at a naturalization ceremony in Brooklyn Center! It was such an honor to celebrate and welcome these new Americans as our fellow citizens. Immigrants contribute so much to the fabric of our society and make our state and our country stronger and better. It was an emotional and exciting day that made me proud to be an American.

I was invited to visit the Hopkins High School for Choice club and met some amazing young leaders who are passionate about reproductive rights. They inspired me and I can’t wait to see what they do next. The future is bright!
I was grateful that most of the Third District’s busy police chiefs could attend our first regular meeting. It’s so helpful to hear firsthand what they’re seeing in our communities, what they need, and how I can support them. To our chiefs and all of our local law enforcement: thank you for your service and for all the work you do to keep our communities safe!
I visited the Eden Prairie Eco Expo to learn from some of the Third District's sustainability advocates. I am committed to advocating for policies that help keep us all healthy -- and I'm excited to take their ideas back to Congress!
Our team hosted a wonderful meeting with many of the Third District’s mayors. We discussed the challenges facing local governments and how we can work together to make life in the Third District better for all our constituents. Many thanks to these leaders for all they do for our communities.

Each year, every district in Congress participates in the Congressional Art Competition. This year, every high school in the Third District participated and we had 79 applications - the most of any district in Minnesota! The art these students created was truly remarkable - I was blown away by how talented they all are. Luckily for me, four independent judges chose the winners. Congratulations to all of our incredible young, local artists – you make the Third District proud!
Thanks to the Wayzata West Metro Chamber for inviting me to speak at the Leadership Luncheon. The Third District is leading the way in business innovation and it was an honor to meet with and learn from some of our business and civic leaders.
I am constantly reminded what a remarkable place the Third District is, and what an honor it is to represent it in Congress. Thanks to everyone who took the time to meet and engage these last couple of weeks. I can’t wait to be back home in Minnesota again. See you soon! |
