We’re turning up the heat on Donald Trump,
John, and the media is taking notice. Demand
Justice’s letter calling out the GOP’s attempts to let Trump stack the
courts with even more MAGA judges was just featured in Politico.

PUSH TO BLOCK JUDICIARY BILL: Three dozen left-leaning advocacy groups and
labor organizations are calling on lawmakers to reject a bill that would
gradually increase the size of the federal judiciary. - The House
Judiciary Committee approved the JUDGES Act in March, teeing it up for a
floor vote. In a letter to lawmakers led by liberal judicial advocacy
group DEMAND JUSTICE, the progressive groups argued that supporting the
measure now "violates both the intent and bipartisan spirit in which these
kinds of bills have been considered and passed."
Republicans in Congress are trying to ram through the JUDGES Act, which
would give Trump sweeping power to expand the judiciary with more
hand-picked judges. That’s why it’s so important to organize a coalition
of progressive groups demanding that Congress stop this bill.
These are the same courts that have blocked some of Trump’s most dangerous
power grabs and unlawful executive actions. If the GOP gets away with
stacking them with MAGA loyalists, the rule of law could be replaced with
Trump’s authoritarian agenda.
This isn’t just about the next few months – it's about the next few
decades. These judges would have lifetime appointments. They could gut
civil rights, environmental protections, reproductive freedom, and so much
more long after Trump leaves office.
We’re glad news outlets are paying attention, but the stakes are too high
for us to slow down now. Our fight to defend the courts is far from over,
and we need to keep pushing to stop this bill before it’s too late.
