The fight against systemic racism and white supremacy couldn’t be more urgent. The call for change is being heard loud and clear, in communities all across the nation. Using this moment to turn our collective pain into power to take our communities back is the only way we’ll have a say in what comes next. That’s why flipping the Texas House blue is so important.

Taking back the House isn’t just about giving Texas Democrats power, it’s also about protecting our Black and Brown communities from a Republican partisan agenda. It’s about giving the power back to the people -- allowing us to pick our politicians, not the other way around. Leaders who understand the intergenerational struggle of living through a rigged system against Black and Brown communities and want to get to work on fixing it. It’s about leveling the playing field, and living by the same set of rules, so we all have a chance at the American Dream.

My mentor Martin Frost was victim to a redrawn district, when the maps were first drawn so unfairly, and we can’t risk losing more Democratic seats in Texas.
