John,
Our right to safe, clean drinking water is threatened every day. Sky-rocketing bills make water unaffordable, while corporate pollution contaminates the water we drink.
And now, Trump wants to slash the main source of federal funding for safe water and clear the way for corporate polluters to contaminate water supplies. His administration’s 2026 budget plan nearly eliminates federal funding for clean water.
But we have a key opportunity to push back against this agenda and defend critical water protections in Congress!
Today, Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman, Representative Ro Khanna, and Senator Bernie Sanders reintroduced the WATER (Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity and Reliability) Act. This landmark bill would designate the funds necessary to protect and clean up our water, fix our outdated infrastructure, and ensure affordable water for all.
Urge your members of Congress to reject Trump’s proposed cuts to water funding programs and co-sponsor the WATER Act! ([link removed])

The Trump agenda takes a wrecking ball to the funding and protections we need for clean, affordable water. And these cuts come at a time when our country’s water infrastructure needs are greater than ever.
From Michigan to Mississippi, Georgia to Alabama, many communities are losing more than half of their drinking water from aged, damaged, and leaking pipes. Additionally, toxic water contamination — including lead in service lines and PFAS “forever chemicals” — is exacting huge health harms.
Without federal support, more families will continue to be at risk due to unsafe drinking water, and the costs of remediation and treatment will fall on them through higher water bills.
Tell Congress to pass the WATER Act! It’s time to fully fund our drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, clean up our water sources, and protect our communities. ([link removed])
Safe Water Now! ([link removed])
The WATER Act provides permanent federal funding at levels that ensure clean, safe water for every community nationwide.
This critical legislation will:
Make water more affordable by boosting federal funding overall and providing grants to struggling communities (and creating up to one million good jobs).
Prepare our aging infrastructure for a climate-changed world, protecting our water from unprecedented fires, supercharged storms, droughts, and floods.
Protect us from PFAS water contamination by providing support for updating treatment systems or finding alternative water supplies when communities’ water has been contaminated.
Support publicly owned water systems by helping communities get out of water privatization contracts, which lead to worse service and higher bills.
Get the lead out by funding lead service line replacements with copper service lines at no cost to households.
Your members of Congress have a choice: They can either advance the Trump agenda and slash clean water funding to pay for corporate giveaways, or they can prioritize the well-being of families above corporate profits and sign on as co-sponsors of the WATER Act.
When we come together — even with Trump in office — we can block attacks on our water and win protections for this most essential resource.
Just last week, we celebrated a huge win for safe water by preventing Republican leadership in Congress from rolling back the Lead Out of Water Rule. Building support for the WATER Act is another step toward clean, safe water for all.
Send a message to your Congressmembers now: Our water systems need a dedicated federal commitment to keep the promise of clean, safe water for everyone. ([link removed])
Onward together,
