Under President Trump’s leadership, illegal apprehensions at the southern border have plummeted 93% and thousands of criminal illegal aliens have been deported out of our country.

Promises made, promises kept.

After four years of the Biden-Harris Administration’s intentional illegal invasion, this is exactly what the American people called for when they delivered President Trump a historic mandate in November. Yet the Left is still grappling with the new reality of law and order.

On Friday, a recent visit to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in New Jersey went off the rails after three House Democrats and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka stormed the facility. As a bus of detainees was entering the security gate, a group of protesters — including the Democrat officials in pursuit of “oversight” — pushed through federal agents in an apparent attempt to breach the facility. Footage of the scuttle appears to show Rep. LaMonica McIver assaulting an ICE agent.

The chaos ended in Mayor Baraka’s arrest and subsequent charge of trespassing. Notably, the Trump Administration is weighing additional arrests, with the Department of Homeland Security confirming this is an ongoing investigation.

For the record, the criminal illegal aliens in the ICE detention facility include murderers, terrorists, child rapists, and MS-13 gang members. Moreover, our heroic ICE agents put their lives on the line to get these dangerous illegals out of our communities.

Folks, this is utter insanity. After years of the Left’s deafening silence as American citizens were victimized by illegal aliens, Democrats are now up in arms to defend these animals. 

Every solitary criminal illegal in our country deserves to be tracked down, detained, and deported. While the Left stays consumed with advocating for criminal illegal aliens, my Republican colleagues and I will continue supporting the Trump Administration’s incredible efforts to secure our nation and put Americans first.

Last Wednesday, the House Budget Committee held a hearing to discuss the fiscal state of our nation. To put the dire state of our fiscal future in perspective, I compared the federal government to a business and explained how if such a business operated in the same reckless fashion, no bank would keep lending more money and no investor would buy its bonds. Additionally, I asked our expert witnesses about the economic implications if investors lose confidence in our ability to service the national debt, as well if there is still time to avoid these cataclysmic economic consequences.

In addition, the House Appropriations Committee kicked off budget hearings ahead of preparing our proposed spending bills for Fiscal Year 2026. On Wednesday afternoon, FBI Director Kash Patel appeared before one of my subcommittees to discuss the Trump Administration’s FY26 budget requests for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). During my remarks, I highlighted how the Biden-Harris Administration weaponized and politicized the FBI to go after President Trump and the American people. I then asked Director Patel how he’s working to restore the agency’s credibility and ensure the FBI safeguards the rights and safety of all Americans. He offered specific results detailing how the agency is protecting Georgians by taking criminals and lethal drugs off streets in the Peach State, and vowed the same standard of law enforcement is now applied to everyone.

Burdensome regulations and unconstitutional taxes shouldn’t stand in the way of protecting American gun owners’ hearing. That’s why last week, I led nearly 40 of my House Republican colleagues in introducing the Constitutional Hearing Protection Act to remove the unconstitutional taxation, registration, and regulation of suppressors under the National Firearms Act. By deregulating suppressors, eliminating the costly $200 tax stamp on these firearms, and avoiding additional taxation, my legislation offers a constitutional solution to increase Americans’ access to suppressors.

Congress must advance this commonsense measure to preserve our Second Amendment rights and protect the hearing of millions of gun owners. Rest assured that as an ardent defender of our Second Amendment liberties, I’m working to remove all infringements on our God-given right to keep and bear arms through my work in Washington.

Last week, I shared that the Senate recently passed my Congressional Review Act (CRA) joint resolution of disapproval, H.J.Res. 42, which rescinds harmful Biden-era regulations on household appliances and consumer products. Just three days later, President Donald Trump signed my CRA into law — making H.J.Res. 42 my first piece of legislation to become law in the 119th Congress.

I’m deeply thankful to President Trump for signing my commonsense legislation into law. By overturning these burdensome Biden-era regulations, we are protecting both consumer choice and industry innovation — marking an exciting legislative victory for the American people. I remain committed to working with the Trump Administration to continue removing red tape on manufacturers and lowering costs for hardworking Americans.

On May 3rd, 136 apprentices and 27 journeyman teams from electric utility providers across the state participated in the Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo. The annual contest offers an opportunity to folks to compete in a series of events in traditional lineman skills and tasks. Apprentices compete as individuals, while journeymen compete in teams of three. Jackson EMC sent 21 apprentices and eight journeyman teams to compete, resulting in three teams placing in the top five. Notably, the top performers from Jackson EMC will represent the electric cooperative at the International Lineman’s Rodeo in Bonner Springs, Kansas this fall.

This National Police Week, the House will consider the following pieces of legislation:

• H.R. 2240, the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act of 2025: This legislation requires the Attorney General to assemble reports on violence against law enforcement officers and the effectiveness of programs meant to provide law enforcement with wellness resources and protective equipment so we may comprehensively enhance the safety of police officers.
• H.R. 2243, the LEOSA Reform Act: This bill broadens the ability of qualified active and retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms in areas such as school zones, national parks, federal facilities open to the public, and state, local, or private property open to the public.
• H.R. 2255, the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act: This legislation directs the General Services Administration to allow current and retired federal law enforcement officers to buy their retired service weapons at salvage value.
