John,
After Donald Trump was elected, I went on MSNBC to share some thoughts about his cabinet nominees.
While we all hoped that he would act differently in his second term, his cabinet picks suggested otherwise. His choices were far more extreme than anyone he nominated the first time around.
You know the saying — choose a clown, expect a circus. Trump has chosen a cabinet full of corrupt, extreme, and incompetent loyalists who will follow his every command and help him subvert the rule of law.
I’m working every single day to hold them accountable and stop the damage they seek to cause to our country. Pitch in to help with that work.
First, Trump announced Matt Gaetz as Attorney General. That didn’t last long, but his replacement, Pam Bondi, is not much better. At Trump’s direction, she launched a sham investigation into ActBlue in an attempt to silence grassroots donors and give even more power to Elon Musk and billionaires who seek to sway elections by making massive contributions.
Kash Patel has been a disaster as the FBI director. He claimed ignorance (under oath) about plans to purge FBI agents — then we found out he was directing them. Add in foreign business ties and murky entanglements with the CCP and the Kremlin, and it’s clear: this isn’t just a lack of leadership, it’s corruption.
And we can’t forget Pete Hegseth, John — Trump’s Secretary of Defense, who shared sensitive information about an impending military operation in Yemen in two separate unsecured group chats that included a reporter, his wife, and his brother.
The list of dangerous and incompetent deeds is endless, and with no accountability coming from within the Trump administration, it is up to people like me and my Democratic colleagues to hold them responsible to the rule of law.
