Mental Health and Diabetes |
The mental toll of diabetes can lead to feelings of isolation, burnout, and even depression. Here’s how you can make a difference this Mental Health Awareness Month. Plus, for a limited time all gifts, up to a $200,000 campaign total, will be matched. |

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. |
People with diabetes are two to three times more likely to have depression than those without. Managing blood glucose (blood sugar), dealing with high medical expenses, planning meals, eating the right foods, and making sure to stay active can all become overwhelming, leading to what many call “diabetes burnout.” |
This Mental Health Awareness Month, the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) aims to help with the mental load by: |
- Supporting national, local, and grassroots advocacy efforts that:
- Ensure health care access for all
- Fight for insulin affordability and other financial burdens
Providing resources to aid with diabetes management, care, and prevention
Funding critical research to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes
The impact of diabetes on mental health can’t be ignored, but with your help, we can ensure that no one faces these challenges alone. And thanks to a generous donor, for a limited time all gifts to the ADA will be matched dollar for dollar up to a campaign total of $200,000. |
