Hello friend,
My first legislative session was a whirlwind! I was appointed to the State Senate in mid-December and immediately jumped into committee meetings. I am proud to serve our district, bringing civility, common sense, and the ability to bring people together to get things done. I am so pleased with the work I was able to get accomplished in just a few short months, both for the 26th district and for the state as a whole.
Here are a few highlights:
* I worked for additional funding for our schools.
* I proposed the first sales tax cut in Washington state for over 40 years.
* I passed legislation to expand access to childcare.
* I passed legislation to support safer ferries.
* I passed legislation to codify emergency protections into state law to ensure all women receive quality care.
* I secured funding for projects in the 26th district, including: West Sound Tech ($42M), SR3/Gorst Area Widening Project ($13.5M), Gig Harbor Sports Fields ($1M), Port Orchard Downtown Reconstruction ($1M), Key Peninsula Civic Center ($103K), DeMolay Sandspit ($515K), Peninsula Health Community Kitchen ($625K), Peninsula Community Health Oak House ($211K), Lakebay Marina Creosote Removal ($1M), and more.
This is just the beginning. It has truly been an honor to serve as your State Senator for these past few months, and I’m excited to continue serving the people of Washington.
