Nearly three years into a post-Roe America, the battle for life is far from over.
While many pro-life states are doing all they can to protect the unborn, some Biden-era abortion policies are still in place -- specifically those that loosened safety standards on chemical abortion. Today, abortion by mail -- often with zero medical oversight -- is the new norm. Over 60% of all abortions now involve the drug mifepristone. If abortion pills can be sent by mail across state lines, state pro-life laws are in effect meaningless.
And just last week, the Trump administration asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit brought by pro-life states seeking to reinstate basic safety requirements on abortion pills. That case aimed to restore in-person medical evaluations, restrict dangerous telehealth abortions, and stop abortion pills from flooding pro-life states by mail.
Even if the request was procedural, it revealed a bigger need: we must show conviction, clarity, and courage in defending life.
That's why Family Research Council -- alongside over 50 pro-life organizations -- sent a clear and urgent letter to President Trump. We're calling on his administration to:
- Reinstate FDA safety protocols for mifepristone
- Enforce the Comstock Law, which prohibits mailing abortion drugs
These aren't radical demands. They are long-standing, common-sense protections that could immediately save lives.

"The FDA could restore these safety measures, and the DOJ could uphold the law -- protecting women and empowering states to defend life."

The Truth About the Abortion Pill
A new analysis of nearly 900,000 mifepristone prescriptions found that 1 in 10 women experienced serious complications -- yet the FDA hasn't done a full safety review in years.
Meanwhile, radical states like California and New York have passed "shield laws" that let abortionists ship pills into pro-life states without consequence -- undermining state laws and evading all accountability.
This is lawlessness disguised as healthcare. And it's more than a policy crisis -- it's a spiritual battle that's been raging for decades.
Even children are being targeted.
In Missouri, pro-abortion activists are suing to eliminate parental consent laws -- so that young girls can get abortions without their parents ever knowing. Some aren't even old enough to get a tattoo without permission. This isn't empowerment. It's exploitation.
There Is Hope -- But We Must Pray and Act Now
Despite the challenges, there is reason for hope. In the last year alone, the Trump administration has made several meaningful pro-life moves:
- Reinstated the Mexico City Policy, blocking U.S. foreign aid from funding abortion abroad
- Enforced the Hyde Amendment, protecting Americans from funding abortion through Medicaid
- Pardoned peaceful pro-life activists, unjustly prosecuted under the Biden DOJ
- Proposed financial support for new moms, including cash bonuses -- to make choosing life easier
These are real victories.
But here's the hard truth: executive orders can be reversed.
What one administration builds, the next can tear down in a matter of days. That's the fear many of our supporters are expressing -- and rightly so. We cannot rely on temporary victories alone.
That's why FRC is doing more than advocating for executive action. We are working with House Speaker Mike Johnson and Congressional leaders to make these policies permanent.
We are equipping members of Congress with the facts, legal strategies, and grassroots momentum needed to codify these pro-life protections into federal law.
- We're pushing for legislation to permanently ban mail-order abortion.
- We're calling for federal protections for parental rights.
- We're supporting bills that restore real medical safeguards for chemical abortion.
