John, The House has finally released legislative text for their budget, and now we know they’re planning to cut at least $715 billion from this life-saving program – cuts that would lead to nearly 14 million people losing essential care.
But we have power together to fight back. We saw the full potential of that power at last week’s 24-hour vigil for Medicaid at the U.S. Capitol.
Our fight to protect Medicaid continues. Help us continue the momentum by calling your House members TODAY as they vote on the budget, so they know we won’t accept cuts to Medicaid! [[link removed]]

Last week’s vigil reminded me: we are never alone in this fight. We were joined by 20 Congressmembers and over 30 organizations. Together, we heard the stories of thousands of caregivers, care recipients, and care advocates who shared how cuts to Medicaid would deeply impact their lives and the people they love.
I want to share just one of the incredible stories we heard during the vigil. Jennifer, a caregiver and mother to her 10-year-old daughter, born with a neonatal abstinence syndrome, said:
“If it were not for Medicaid, my daughter would never have survived that first month of life. Medicaid, for so many people, is an opportunity for life. So let's tell the folks in the Capitol, Medicaid is life. ”
Jennifer is right — Medicaid saves lives, and cuts would have widespread, devastating impacts to tens of millions of aging and disabled people, children, health care workers, hospitals, families, and more.
We can’t let Congress cut billions of dollars in care for families like yours and mine in order to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest and big corporations.
That’s why we won’t stop fighting – and we hope you’ll fight with us. Call your House members now and tell them: NO CUTS TO MEDICAID! [[link removed]]
Tell them we’re more than a line item in a budget, we’re more than faceless numbers, and we will fight to protect our care. Call them as often as you can, because our lives, and the lives of millions of others across the country, depend on it.
Don’t let them take away our care.
In solidarity,
Nicole Jorwic, Chief Program Officer
