Details from Republicans’ negotiations are emerging now. We just got word from the House Natural Resources Committee that their legislation would:

• Dramatically ramp up dirty energy in the U.S. by mandating even more oil and gas lease sales, contaminating the air and water that communities and wildlife depend on.
   
• Endanger unique marine and coastal ecosystems by offering new offshore drilling leases in the Western Gulf of Mexico, and reopening leases in Alaska's vulnerable Cook Inlet, home to endangered Beluga whales.
   
• Allow corporate polluters to skip essential environmental reviews and permits for the right price, creating a “pay-to-play” scheme that allows oil, gas, mineral, and commercial logging companies to play by their own set of rules.

Republicans have the narrowest of majorities in the House. That means we have a real chance to pressure key members of Congress to OPPOSE legislation that puts our environment at risk — but to do that, we need your help, Friend.
