The Trump administration has turned lawlessness and corruption into a standard practice. But this crosses a new line: The administration plans to accept a luxury jet valued around $400 million from the Qatari royal family, use it as Air Force One, and hand it off to Trump’s presidential library when his term is over. [1]

It’s outrageous — and likely unconstitutional. The Foreign Emoluments Clause bars federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign powers without Congress’ approval.

This is blatant corruption, and Congress must act now. Tell your representatives to reject this clear example of corruption — our democracy is not for sale.

Since this development was first reported, President Trump has said it would be “stupid” not to accept the plane as a gift. [2]

Well, Mr. President, it would actually be unethical to accept the gift.

Aside from the corruption angle of it, there are serious concerns for our nation’s national security as well as the appearance this gift gives that foreign powers could be able to influence American politics through the executive branch.

This opens up a can of worms and it needs to be shut down. Urge your members of Congress to reject this corruption.
