NPR: Small and rural libraries are feeling the cuts from President Trump's executive order

John: Donald Trump has SLASHED federal funds to public libraries – despite 90% of voters supporting their local libraries!

Libraries are a critical part of our communities. From children’s programming to stocking the latest books, Americans use their public libraries every day. Trump's cuts will impact branches big and small all across the country – and could cause thousands to close! 

We at the DGA need to know where you stand, so we've launched a poll to find out how many voters in 19125 use their public library. So tell us: Do you have a library card?

Trump's attempt to dismantle the Institute of Museum and Library Services is especially crushing for small and rural libraries. They often don't have the money to operate independently, so they rely on federal grants to:

🧑‍💻 Offer free wifi to people who may not have internet access

📚 Run critical literacy and early childhood programs

🚙 Fund "bookmobiles" to visit rural communities far from the main branches

📝 Support job training and workforce development programs

And SO much more!

95% of Americans believe libraries are essential local institutions, but we need to know if you visit your public library.
