Whoever the GOP nominee is for New York Governor, they’re sure to be a pawn for Donald Trump.

Rumors are swirling around Elise Stefanik, Mike Lawler, and Bruce Blakeman running for Governor. They’ve all proven that they care more about pleasing Trump than doing right by New Yorkers. That’s not what we need.

Elise Stefanik is a top-ranking member of the House GOP caucus. She’s become one of Trump’s fiercest supporters, ditching her district to abide by Trump and D.C. Republicans’ extreme agenda.

Mike Lawler is another GOP congressman eyeing a run for Governor. When he’s home in New York, he pretends to be moderate — but as soon as he’s in D.C., he votes to undermine reproductive freedom, gut Medicaid, and raise costs on New York families.

Bruce Blakeman is a county executive on Long Island who, in Donald Trump’s own words, is “MAGA all the way, and has been with us from the very beginning.”

Each of these three Republicans has stood by Donald Trump — even as he got our country into unnecessary trade wars and jacked up costs on hardworking families. Even as he’s threatened to cut Social Security and Medicare to give billionaires tax cuts. Even as he’s defunded public safety programs to keep our streets and subways safe.
