Dear John,
Both in our state and across the country, communities are finally seeing real, tangible investment in clean energy manufacturing—new factories, new jobs, and revitalized local economies that are lowering energy costs for all of us—thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act.
Unfortunately, Congress is considering halting this progress. Last week, 38 House Representatives signed onto a letter calling for a full repeal of the IRA’s clean energy tax credits. NC’s Representative Mark Harris was one of them. If these extreme legislators get their way, our state could lose more than 17,500 jobs, $20.7 billion in clean energy investments and raise energy costs across the state. Across the U.S., we could lose nearly 40,000 new jobs and nearly 400,000 existing clean energy jobs.
Senator Thom Tillis has defended these tax credits, but if his past voting record tells us anything, he may still fall in line with whatever Trump demands.
Reach out to your legislators and tell them to fight for clean energy jobs and investments that are vital to our state!
