The fight for liberty, truth and equality in America doesn’t begin or end in Washington, DC. In fact, the fight for our values and our democracy begins much closer to home. It’s our communities, cities and districts where we have the most power to hold our elected leaders accountable. That’s why Stand Up Republic doesn’t just focus on persuading Congress to act.
When we see a candidate for office who poses a threat to our values and our democracy, we get involved to educate voters about why that candidate fails our standards for public office. We did it against a credibly accused child sexual assaulter in Roy Moore, conspiracist Devin Nunes, and white supremacist Steve King. Your support is crucial to spreading the words of warning to voters who are choosing their representatives. [[link removed]]
So when reports first came out about ballot fraud and corruption in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional district elections, we paid close attention. When it became clear that the state and national GOP knew what was happening, and looked the other way, we were outraged. And when Dan Bishop won the hastily organized primary election redo, we knew we had to act.
Bishop isn’t a run of the mill candidate. He did nothing as the candidate he endorsed hired a known criminal to steal votes, and when they got caught he changed the rules so that he could run instead of the disgraced Mark Harris. He’s also the author of the bathroom bill that North Carolina had to repeal, due to the billions of dollars in damage that it’s still doing to their economy. And then there’s his investment in a neo Nazi and white supremacy friendly social media website.

In the aftermath of a rally and murder by neo Nazis in Charlottesville, Dan Bishop invested his money in a website that welcomed their vile hate and bigotry. And since he gave his own money to help grow the website, it’s been used by the Pittsburgh shooter to announce his murder spree at a synagogue, and by others to celebrate mass murderers like the El Paso shooter. We don’t need a member of Congress who spends his own money to build safe havens for hate.
John, we depend on your support to make sure that voters know the truth about candidates like King, Moore, and now Bishop. Just $10, $20 or $50 dollars helps get the word out. [[link removed]]
Sadly, there’s no shortage of bad candidates out there right now. The political polarization in our country, as well as a resurgence in anti-democratic or white supremacist ideologies has emboldened dangerous demagogues and unprincipled opportunists. It’s up to all of us to fight back, and stand up for principled leads, no matter their party.
