The House Ways & Means Committee is preparing to mark up a major reconciliation package TODAY, May 13 at 2:00 PM.

The package includes harmful language that would give the Treasury Secretary unchecked authority to designate any nonprofit as a “terrorist supporting organization” and revoke its tax-exempt status without due process.

This is a dangerous, undemocratic power grab. It would give any administration the tools to target political opponents, punish dissenting voices—including pro-Palestinian organizations—and silence community-led advocacy. Under the false pretext of protecting our national security, it opens the door to government retaliation against nonprofits, foundations, civil rights and immigrant groups, and service providers, including the thousands of local groups providing critical direct services to people across the country. And this extraordinary targeting is going after constitutionally protected speech.

We urge community members, nonprofit leaders, and allies to contact Members of the House Ways & Means Committee today and demand they oppose this provision in any form. This is a direct threat to our democracy, our communities, and our right to dissent.
