Hi Revealer,
I am thrilled to share the news that Reveal was selected as a Pulitzer Prize finalist for 40 Acres and a Lie ([link removed]) , a collaborative investigation about a government program that gave—and then took away—land to more than 1,200 formerly enslaved people in the South immediately after the Civil War.
We teamed up with the Center for Public Integrity (CPI) and our colleagues at Mother Jones to bring this incredible investigation to life. What resulted was a multiplatform triumph: a three-part Reveal ([link removed]) radio and podcast series, a searchable database ([link removed]) , articles on MotherJones.com ([link removed]) and in Mother Jones magazine, a promotional video, and gorgeous art on each platform. The project recently also picked up Webby, IRE, duPont-Columbia, and National Magazine awards.
This kind of expansive, multiplatform investigative reporting was possible only because of our merger with Mother Jones and our collaboration with CPI. We were honored to bring these powerful newsrooms together to deliver high-impact journalism that attempts to reach readers, listeners, and viewers everywhere they seek to get their news and information.
We also learned recently that our documentary film The Grab ([link removed]) was nominated for four Emmy Awards ([link removed]) . If you haven’t seen it yet, you can stream it on most of the popular streaming platforms ([link removed]) . We are honored that the Emmys continue to recognize the critical documentary and film work of our CIR Studios ([link removed]) team. We’ll keep you updated on the outcome of the most recent nominations.
The Pulitzer honor and Emmy nominations are a testament not only to the incredible hard work of our teams, but also to your support. Today, we share this success with you. Thank you for making this critical work possible.
Thank you,
Missa Perron
