Mike for Renton City Council Canvass

This Saturday, May 17, 11 - 2pm

Tiffany Park (1902 Lake Youngs Way SE)

RSVP

Come canvass for Mike Westgaard’s campaign for Renton City Council! Let’s elect someone who will fight for working people.

Mike is a proud union shop steward and longtime Seattle DSA member – his campaign envisions connecting our chapter to the organized labor movement and the working class struggle in South King County. Mike is a champion for housing and transit for all, ending the war on drugs, and defending Raise the Wage Renton!

Mike is running as a democratic socialist in a grassroots campaign against a Chamber of Commerce backed establishment incumbent – to win he will need OUR HELP! We’ll meet at Tiffany Park for sign-ins and training, then head out to talk to neighbors about Mike’s campaign.

We will be organizing carpooling options, if you need a carpool please enter the relevant information into the Action Network RSVP form. First time canvassers are welcome. We will provide a training before the canvass. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately!

Power of Protest?
What's the most effective way to fight Trump & Musk?

This Sunday, May 18, 5pm
Victrola Cafe Community Room (411 15th Ave E)

Trump came back to power despite massive protests in his first term. The slaughter in Gaza continues despite worldwide revulsion and enormous global protests.  The climate catastrophe continues unabated despite years of protests and growing alarm amongst the world’s population.  Does this mean that protests don’t work? Are they simply performative? Would we be better served focusing on local politics and getting people elected rather than putting resources into building protests?

Join your friendly neighborhood socialists in District 3 in discussing these critical questions. All are welcome - even if you don’t live in District 3!
