Now that it seems Trump will finally get his birthday military parade fantasy, he’s unable to restrain himself. The spectacle is quickly growing in size and scale and will now involve 6,000 soldiers, 150 Army vehicles, 10 tanks, and 50 warplanes.
But Trump's obsession with authoritarian pageantry and military grandeur isn't just expensive – it's dangerous. He frequently praises authoritarian leaders like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-Un, openly admires crackdowns on peaceful protesters, and repeatedly attacks democratic institutions, calling the free press "the enemy of the people."
