Hi there,
After I led a coalition of 18 states challenging the Trump administration’s cruel family separation policy more than a year ago, a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to immediately stop separating families and reunite those who had been separated. But as we have learned -- President Trump is still separating families at the border.

“The ACLU said that more than 900 parents and children, including babies, have been separated by U.S. border authorities since U.S. District Judge Dana M. Sabraw... ordered the government to reunite more than 2,700 children with their parents more than a year ago.” [NPR, July 30, 2019]

President Trump continually demonstrates a blatant disregard for judicial orders and for basic human rights. The president’s unconstitutional and inhumane acts at our border keep getting worse. People’s lives are at stake.
The Trump administration has created a humanitarian crisis at the border -- by separating families, keeping children in cages, and allowing inhumane, cruel conditions in detention centers. Immigrant children have been held for weeks without access to basic necessities like clean water, toothbrushes, showers, soap or a place to sleep. President Trump’s reckless policies only exacerbate the suffering of people who come here fleeing violence, seeking refuge, and trying to build a better life.
This is not what America stands for. President Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda needs to be stopped, and Congress has been unable and unwilling to take action.
But Democratic attorneys general are stepping up to take on Trump’s unconstitutional immigration policies -- and we’re winning. Our team is still in court fighting to hold the Trump administration accountable to the law and put an end once and for all to family separations.
This fight isn’t over. I won’t stop challenging the president until we end this callous, inhumane, and un-American policy.
