Dear Supporter,
As you may have seen, a [new report]([link removed]) has exposed serious questions this government needs to answer over its arms exports to Israel.
The report, by the Palestine Youth Movement, Workers for Palestine and Progress International examined Israeli tax authority import data, reveals 14 shipments of military equipment to Israel since October 7th 2023.
It also shows that since Labour’s partial arms suspension in September 2024, 630 items were exported under the category “bombs, grenades, torpedoes, mines, missiles and similar munitions of war and parts thereof – other”.
A further four shipments were made after September of 146 items under a customs code identified as “tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, motorised, whether or not fitted with weapons, and parts of such vehicles”.
The research also calls into question the government’s claims that it suspended the direct [export of F-35 components]([link removed] to Israel, given the monthly pattern of UK shipments of aircraft parts to Israel is largely unchanged since September. Labour made an exemption when it suspended licenses to allow the export of UK made F-35 spare parts to Israel if they were through the global stockpile. Direct exports were supposed to stop.
While we cannot identify all these licenses, this report totally shatters the claim, made by successive governments, that the UK arms export regime is robust and transparent. We already know that this government is complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. However, the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and the Business and Trade Secretary must now answer urgent questions over their government’s violation of its own export licensing controls and international humanitarian law given the shocking evidence in this report.
However, two things remain abundantly clear. Our arms export regime is not fit for purpose and this government is complicit in Israel’s horrific war crimes. Time and again it has either refused to act or manufactured loopholes to prioritise arms trade profits over Palestinian lives.
This has to stop!
