Ohio’s primary election happened last Tuesday, May 6th. We are here to share the results.

Columbus City Council District 7 Race
There were three candidates on the ballot: Independent Kate Curry-Da-Souza and Democrats Tiara Ross and Jesse Vogel. Voters could select one candidate, with the top two advancing to the general election in November.
Tiara Ross led with 40.72% of the votes, followed closely by Jesse Vogel with 39.14%. Kate Curry-Da-Souza received 20.14% of the votes.
Because Ross and Vogel received the highest shares of the vote, they will appear on the November ballot in a head-to-head race for the District 7 seat on Columbus City Council.
Columbus City Schools (CCS) Board of Education Race
Ten candidates appeared on Tuesday’s ballot. The top six will move on to the general election in November, where voters will choose three individuals to fill open seats on the seven-member Board.
The six candidates advancing are:
-
Antoinette Miranda (21.94%)
-
Patrick Katzenmeyer (19.12%)
-
Jermaine Kennedy (18.44%)
-
Mounir Lynch (7.58%)
-
Janeece Keyes (7.17%)

The remaining candidates—Liz Caslin-Turner (6.21%), Karrie Lumpkin (4.86%), Teresa Hannah (4.17%), and Julie Trabold (3.41%)—did not qualify for the general election.
This election comes at a pivotal moment for Columbus City Schools. The district is projected to become insolvent by 2028, has the lowest academic performance in Central Ohio, and is facing declining state and federal funding as well as decaying facilities. The outcome of this race will shape how the CCS Board of Education addresses these urgent challenges.
The general election will be November 4th, 2025, get out and vote!
