Ten years after 196 countries promised to stop global warming with the Paris Agreement, emissions and temperatures are still rising.

One of the major reasons why: Fossil fuel companies using UN COP climate talks to slow walk climate action and stop global energy transition. 

To keep the Paris Agreement’s promise of 1.5°C alive, the world needs true leadership at the United Nations’ COP 30 in Brazil this year. Starting at the top, with the man setting the tone for the most critical set of climate talks in years: COP 30 President Corrêa do Lago. 

We encourage COP 30 President Corrêa do Lago to commit to:

• Not using the COP presidency to expand fossil fuel production.
• No fossil fuel industry representatives on the COP presidency team.
• Ensure safe and accessible participation at COP 30 by civil society.
• Prioritize outcomes and initiatives consistent with the Paris Agreement.

Send a message to the COP 30 president: Don’t allow fossil fuel lobbyists to delay climate progress by interfering with COP negotiations in Brazil.

Whether or not we meet the goals of the Paris Agreement depends on what comes next. With so much relying on the outcome of this year’s COP 30 in Brazil, it’s on us to keep up the pressure. 

COP 30 President Corrêa do Lago can demonstrate leadership by safeguarding the process against conflicts of interests, increasing transparency, and supporting science.
