Email from VoteWater Register now for Friends of the Everglades LIVE!   Friend, Florida’s 2025 legislative session is almost in the books. Here’s the big news: We’re one step away from locking in a huge win for Florida’s state parks — stopping harmful development in its tracks and protecting these public lands for generations to come. Friends of the Everglades has been in the thick of it since last summer, tracking the twists and turns and fighting to keep Florida’s parks out of the hands of private developers. We were not willing to tolerate a weak parks bill with loopholes, so we identified solutions and worked with lawmakers to adopt them. We appreciate state Rep. John Snyder for taking our input and standing up for a stronger bill, which the Florida Senate unanimously passed, too. And while this session may be coming to an end, the job’s not done yet. We need to stay loud, stay focused and push this good bill across the finish line by demanding Gov. DeSantis sign it. Get the latest on the parks bill and other environmental legislation by joining us for a Friends of the Everglades LIVE from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram. Our Executive Director Eve Samples and Policy Director Gil Smart will break down what happened in Tallahassee, what’s still at stake, and how you can help. Bring your questions. Bring your lunch. Bring your righteous outrage. We’ll see you there.   REGISTER NOW FOR THIS FREE LIVE EVENT P.S. You are receiving this message because you are a supporter of our affiliated 501(c)4 VoteWater.
