MICHIGAN COALITION FOR
RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS

"Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms
through education, litigation, and legislation."

MONDAY E'NEWS

May 2025 CPL Report

Total statewide concealed pistol licenses dropped for the second consecutive month in April to 855,843 as of May 1, 2025 . The full report from the Michigan State Police can be found HERE.

This is the first decline over successive months since the COVID pandemic lockdowns of early 2020. The decline is due to multiple factors including economic uncertainty. The improved political situation for gun owners, both nationally and in Lansing, has also decreased anxiety about new firearms restrictions.

Interest in CPL classes historically has been lightest from May through July. So it is likely we will continue to see decreases over the coming three months.
