Whenever I need to get pumped up, my go-to song is “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I play it in my office in DC, and when it’s nice out, I like to open up the windows so everyone walking by can jam out to it too.

I played it onboard one of the original WWII C-47s while wearing a 1942 paratrooper uniform right before jumping into France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

I tell you this because I’m going to get a lot of use out of this song over the next year and a half.

I know these emails can seem constant, and trust me – it’s my least favorite part of the job. But let me remind you what I’m up against…
