Re: [Weekend Match Update] Our public lands need us now
The weekend is almost up and so is your opportunity to double your impact
for public lands during this critical time. Our public lands face
challenges unlike any we've seen in a generation, and our work
together has never been more urgent or essential.
Please make your gift before midnight to help create, expand, and
protect public lands where they're needed most from
neighborhood playgrounds to national monuments.

The hits keep on coming. In addition to the administration's
proposed cuts to the National Park Service (despite record-breaking
visitation levels), Congress is now proposing an amendment ordering
the sale of thousands of acres of public lands in Nevada and
Utah. This amendment is just the latest in a series of bold and
unpopular attempts to erode protections for our cherished public lands
and national monuments. Federal leaders are no longer hiding their
desire or efforts to target federally protected, public lands (and the
federal workers who run them).
These lands are far more than just scenic vistas-they are sacred
sites, vital habitats, and integral parts of our collective history.
They are where millions forge lifelong memories, whether hiking,
playing, or connecting with nature. And right now, they stand at risk
of being sold off, exploited for short-term financial gains. Once
these lands are gone, they are lost forever, and the repercussions
will echo through generations.
Through Sunday night, you can make an urgent matched gift to help
protect all of our public lands from neighborhood playgrounds to
national monuments.

Despite this, TPL continues doing what we have done for fifty-plus
years: safeguarding, creating, and expanding parks and outdoor spaces
in communities where they're needed most. Just last month, we
collaborated with community partners and local officials to preserve
one of Louisiana's last old-growth pine savannahs-a
critical ecosystem for many rare species. Thanks to our collective
efforts, over 426 acres are now permanently protected, allowing
residents and visitors to hike, photograph, study, and simply relish
this unique landscape for generations to come.
This vital work thrives because of people like
you. Your gift
today is powerful. It will help safeguard our vital public lands
against continued attacks from people who have a track record of
trying to privatize our shared outdoor spaces, opening them up to
drilling, development, and other uses that degrade them. Will you act
right now to double your impact and protect these special places?
