Hi John! I’m Abbey’s daughter, Sarah, and this Mother’s Day, I wanted to reach out to you and talk about how inspiring my mom is.
But if you’re already familiar with her story and the amazing work she’s doing, can I count on you to donate $25 to celebrate my mom and help fuel the work of Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence this Mother’s Day? >> ([link removed])

To me, Abbey is “mom” (and not to brag, but I’d say the best mom). But she’s so much more than that – she’s actively saving lives. She’s an educator leading the fight to end gun violence. Every person has a story about a teacher who changed their life; my mom is that person for so many, for many reasons.
My mom was a teacher who survived the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I was 16 when the shooting took place, crouched under a lab table in my physics class. Terrified and worried about my mom who was just a mile away, while she was singing songs quietly to her students to keep them calm.
That day forever changed both of our lives. And since then, my mom and I turned our pain and anger into action and activism.
My mom, along with other educator-survivors of gun violence, started Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence. They’re the only teacher-led non-profit actively working to end gun violence by amplifying the firsthand voices of educators.
And John, they’re making a real difference! Because of the support of generous donors, they’ve been able to lobby lawmakers, mobilize teachers all across the country to take action, and so much more!
But while my mom is empowering educators across the country to become advocates against gun violence in their schools and communities, there is a force that is working to block their progress – the NRA and the gun lobby.
I’m so proud of my mom, and I want to help her in her fight. So this Mother’s Day, I’ve set a goal of raising $10,000 for Teachers Unify by midnight.
Will you donate $25, or whatever you can, to fuel their work to make our classrooms and communities safer – and take on the gun lobby, John? >> ([link removed])
