John,

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the Black caregivers — including mothers, grandmothers, aunties, House Mothers, and sisters — who are on the frontlines protecting and ensuring justice for our communities and infusing love and joy into our lives every day.

With so many of our rights at stake, this Mother’s Day is a critical opportunity for us to foster spaces that center Black Joy as a tool of resistance and affirm our collective power.

Black moms deserve more than a card and our cheers. We know they deserve better than inadequate maternal health care or the pain that comes with losing their child after being attacked by police or vigilantes because of the color of their skin. Black moms deserve our respect and recognition for being changemakers, mediators, fighters, winners, and community builders. And most of all, they deserve our commitment through and through for racial and gender-based justice.

Color Of Change is committed to showing up for the Black mothers who have shown up for us and our nation time and time again. From running campaigns to hold corporations and government officials accountable to our communities, to supporting in-person events across the country to discuss the critical issues we’re facing and equip folks with the tools they need to organize for change, we’re working year-round to uplift and empower the caregivers who keep the wheels of the racial justice movement spinning.

To the mothers in our COC community, we thank you for all that you do. We’re humbled to stand in solidarity with folks like you.

Until Justice Is Real,

Color Of Change
