Add your name to stand with the families impacted by gun violence—and to thank the legislators who refused to let that moment go unchecked.
John,
This week, the State Senate considered a resolution to honor mothers who have lost a child to gun violence. These women were in the chamber to be recognized for their strength and their unimaginable loss.
Instead, Senator Dave Lawson used the moment to deliver a tone-deaf response that downplayed gun violence and shifted blame. It was dismissive, it was out of place, and it was said right in front of the very people the resolution was meant to honor.
Several Democratic Senators walked out. Not for show—but because enough is enough. These mothers deserved better.
