This Week on LGBTQ Nation

Why it matters: The Trump administration can now start kicking transgender people out of the military, many of whom have served for years without any problems.

Why it matters: The new pope can influence how people treat LGBTQ+ people all over the globe. He made anti-LGBTQ+ comments in 2012, but LGBTQ+ Catholic activists say that a lot of time has passed since then.

Why it matters: Two blue cities in red states passed similar measures in the past several weeks to protect their right to fly the rainbow flag. Could this be a new trend?

Why it matters: Republicans have shown that they will keep making anti-trans politics central to their election strategies going forward. Democrats have to find an effective response.

Why it matters: Parents of LGBTQ+ people have been key to fighting for our rights in the West. These mothers are taking a big risk in standing up against Uganda's brutal anti-LGBTQ+ law.
