• Explorer Edem Mahu, a senior lecturer of marine biogeochemistry at the University of Ghana who is passionate about transforming the relationship between Ghanaians and the ocean. Edem is working to build an ocean-literate community in Ghana through her Future Ocean Leaders Academy Project. Recognizing the challenges around ocean science confronting institutions in West Africa, she is actively collaborating with multinational partners to build ocean science capacity in that region.

• Explorer Hilario Poot-Cahun, a Maya linguist and educator who is committed to building an environmental science curriculum in the Yucatec Maya language. By giving Yucatecan children access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in their ancestral language, Hilario is helping to dismantle a key barrier for young students who are seeking to grow their knowledge.

• Explorer K. Ramnath “Ram” Chandrasekhar, a photographer-turned-educator from India, who has captured not just the beauty of the natural world but its silent cries for help. He carried these stories into classrooms, where over 50,000 children have rediscovered wonder, curiosity and care for the planet.

This work is vital and is a part of a larger strategy to share knowledge, expertise, research and impact with learners of all ages.
