Reject inequality at its most extreme and help stop the Trump tax cuts for billionaires.
Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are pushing to lock in permanent tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. These tax cuts are nothing less than a massive giveaway to millionaires and billionaires who already control a staggering share of our nation’s wealth.
It’s not just bad policy. It’s a moral failure that would deepen the extreme inequality that’s tearing our country apart.
For decades, the richest 1% have rigged the system to benefit themselves – dodging taxes, slashing their obligations, and hoarding wealth while the rest of us pay more and get less. Schools are underfunded, health care is out of reach, and working families are struggling to stay afloat – all while the wealthy elite enjoy endless breaks.
But the tide is turning. Recent polling shows that 70% of Republican voters – yes, Republican voters – support raising taxes on the rich. Among Democrats, that number shoots up to 90%. And now, Trump is actually claiming he supports it.
Trump is sending mixed messages to Republican leadership, but his public messaging gives Congressional Republicans the cover they need to do the right thing. Tell Congress: No more handouts for billionaires. Tax the rich now.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has just announced a slight reduction of their proposed tax cut package – from $4.5 trillion to $4 trillion. We need to see these cuts continue to shrink.
The anti-tax grip is loosening as the excesses of the billionaire class are becoming a wedge issue dividing the GOP. Voters from both parties understand the importance of working class support, and we need to see this in the actual legislation. If we act now, we can stop another round of tax cuts for those who need them least and begin restoring fairness to our tax system.
This is a once-in-a-generation moment to take action. Trump’s tax cuts would lock in even more extreme inequality for decades. We must speak up now, before it’s too late.
