Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in the 12th District and a special shoutout to my wife, Robin, my three daughters, and my daughter-in-law. I am grateful daily for these strong, dedicated women and the overwhelming love they show our family and my 14 grandchildren every day.
To all mothers, we know your job is not easy, but you will always hold a special place in our hearts. I hope today is filled with joy and time spent with family and loved ones.

Keeping the CCP Out of Institutions of Higher Education
|
For years, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has worked to spread propaganda and conduct sophisticated espionage around the world, particularly targeting the United States and seeking to infiltrate and exploit America’s classrooms and institutions of higher learning.
One way the Chinese government attempted to do this was to establish Confucius Institutes (CIs) in the U.S. under the guise of promoting the Chinese language and culture and advancing cultural exchanges. In reality, these CIs were extensions of the CCP’s influence network meant to conduct espionage in the U.S., impact academic institutions’ decisions, push propaganda, and steal intellectual property and trade secrets.
This week, House Republicans passed H.R. 881, the DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act, with my support. This bill restricts funding to American institutions of higher education that maintain a relationship with a Chinese entity of concern or CI, making them ineligible to receive any funds from the Department of Homeland Security.

America's Farmers Believe in President Trump's Trade Agenda
|
American farmers are behind President Trump's relentless push to restore fairness in global trade and secure new markets for homegrown producers. According to the latest Purdue University-CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, 70% of farmers believe the President's reciprocal trade action will strengthen the agricultural economy in the long term.
Our farmers depend on free and fair trade, and President Trump is taking the necessary actions to level the playing field.

This Week's White House Highlight
|
REMINDER: With President Trump back in the White House, we are excited to add a new feature to the newsletter! Each week, I will highlight an executive action, announcement, rulemaking, bill signing, or any other activity from the Trump Administration to keep you well-informed on what's happening in Washington.
On the 80th anniversary of Victory Day for World War II, President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a new trade deal, providing American companies unprecedented access to the UK markets while bolstering U.S. national security. This is a great deal for America.
This trade deal will expand U.S. market access in the UK, creating a $5 billion opportunity for new exports for U.S. farmers, ranchers, and producers. - This includes more than $700 million in ethanol exports and $250 million in other agricultural products, like beef.
- It commits the countries to work together to enhance industrial and agricultural market access.
- It closes loopholes and increases U.S. firms’ competitiveness in the UK’s procurement market.
- It ensures streamlined customs procedures for U.S. exports.
- It establishes high standard commitments in the areas of intellectual property, labor, and environment.
- It maximizes the competitiveness and secures the supply chain of U.S. aerospace manufacturers through preferential access to high-quality UK aerospace components.
- It creates a secure supply chain for pharmaceutical products.

This Week's Committee Activity
|
Education and Workforce Committee
Full Committee Hearing:
“Beyond the Ivy League: Stopping the Spread of Antisemitism on American Campuses”
Antisemitic activity continues to engulf America's college campuses. During this hearing, we heard from three university Presidents about their response, or lack thereof, to pro-Hamas agitators on their campuses. These universities have a responsibility and moral obligation to protect Jewish students, and my Republican colleagues and I will continue to hold them accountable.
Watch my remarks HERE.
