Dearest Friends,

This Mother’s Day, I am sending warm wishes to the mothers, grandmothers and mother figures in our lives and am reminded of my own mother in this challenging moment for our country. My mom taught me that mothers are our Guardian Angels and that we carry them always in our hearts – whether or not we are blessed to have them with us.

As a mother of five and grandmother of ten, I believe our children are our most precious gift and responsibility. That is why I work alongside my Democratic House Colleagues to create a better world For The Children, including a safe present and promising future for them.

To that end, we must empower women with sound policy, including health care security, affordable child care, paid leave, universal pre-K, a quality public education with respect for our teachers, and equal pay.

Celebrating the beauty and diversity of our families in San Francisco and across America as we come together around our shared values, we can and we will preserve our Democracy and secure the brighter future for our children that they deserve.

On this special day, I share with you a special prayer that my mother, Nancy D’Alesandro, wrote for her mother.
