John, North Carolina’s public school teachers are some of the best in the business.

Their hard work, dedication, and expertise are key to creating strong schools and engaged students.

And teachers deserve pay that acknowledges the importance — and the difficulty — of that work.

But North Carolina just dropped to 43rd place in the nation for teacher pay — falling five places. Our average teacher salary comes in well below the national average.

Look, no North Carolina teacher should be forced to work a second or third job just to pay the bills. No teacher should be forced to give up the profession they love, where they directly impact the next generation, in order to find a job where they can make ends meet.

Josh believes that our teachers deserve better. That’s why his budget proposal includes a RAISE for NC public school teachers. Now, we just need our state legislature to pass it.
