A Tribute to Mothers Everywhere

Dear Friend,
Mother's Day is a special day to honor
and remember all the women in our lives who have been mothers to us.
Those who offered their love and support. Those who are acting as
caregivers or have been caregivers in the past. Those whose homes have
been a safe place to land. And those mothers that we are now caring
for, who are living with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia.
It's also a day to remember those who
are no longer with us whom we'll always cherish.
However, Mother's Day is not always a happy day. It can be
extraordinarily difficult for those who have experienced loss and for
families who are currently caring for someone living with this
devastating disease. If you or a loved one are in need of care or
support, we're here all day, every day. You can reach us at our free
24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) or find online resources at alz.org, like

As you may know, Alzheimer's has a
disproportionate impact on women. In fact, of the over 7 million
people living with Alzheimer's in the United States, 4.4 million are
women. While this may be because women live longer than men on
average, researchers are investigating whether there are other
biological or genetic factors at work.
In the United States, more than 10 million women are either living
with Alzheimer's or caring for someone who is living with it.

As this global public health crisis continues to escalate, the
reality is we're all at risk. That's why we're dedicated to fighting
for millions of people impacted by Alzheimer's by providing care and
support and advancing research toward methods of treatment, prevention
and, ultimately, a cure.
That fight continues with you. It's
your commitment as a member of the Alzheimer's Association community
that helps further our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and
all other dementia - by accelerating global research, driving
risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and
support. We're so grateful for your interest in our fight.
Thank you to all the amazing women in our lives -
especially those we call Mom. And thank you for your commitment in the
fight against Alzheimer's.
Sincerely,
Donna McCullough
