Friend — Remember this day?

August 13th of last year. After a ton of hard work and campaigning, our movement defeated Ilhan’s primary challenger and later sent her back to Congress for another two years.

It was a joyful moment. But it wasn’t an easy campaign; Ilhan herself called it “one of the ugliest, most disgusting campaigns against me that I have ever witnessed.” Millions of dollars were spent to stop Ilhan and it was an uphill battle the entire way.

Now, Ilhan has announced that she’s running for reelection once again, and we can bet that the far-right, AIPAC, corporate interests, and the entire establishment will be watching to see if our movement is still strong.

If we look weak, they may organize their big donors and start lining up behind a conservative candidate who will challenge Ilhan. If we show that thousands of dedicated, grassroots supporters are by our side, they may decide that a primary challenge just isn’t worth it.

That would be a huge boost for Ilhan, and allow her to spend less time campaigning and more time taking on Donald Trump’s administration and fighting for our progressive values.

That’s why we need to report a huge fundraising haul after the next FEC deadline. If we do, eventually we’ll be able to recreate that joyful moment from last year.
