It’s Mother’s Day, John – a time we celebrate all the moms across the country, who sacrifice so much to give us the best life possible.

But can you imagine a future where mothers didn't have to sacrifice so much?

Where they could rely on paid family leave, like the Pennsylvania Senate just passed?

Where there were programs for more affordable child care?

The Trump Administration recently proposed a $5,000 baby bonus to new parents. There is a novel’s worth of things that could be said about that but let’s just state the obvious: Having a child is just the start. Raising healthy kids in a healthy family environment requires family friendly policies like paid parental leave, affordable child care, affordable health care, equitable workplace rules, and more.

However, the Trump Administration is dismantling what few support structures exist for families today including abolishing telework for federal employees, shutting down departments which protect workers’ rights, eliminating maternal and child health programs at HHS, cancelling funding for Head Start, threatening SNAP, closing agencies focused on child support enforcement, domestic violence reduction, and more. Not to mention his support of Congressional Republican efforts to cut Medicaid to pay for tax breaks to millionaires.

This Mother's Day, it's imperative that we stand up on behalf of all moms across the country to provide more programs for working families. As a reliable Democrat in 19125, I'm personally counting on you, John, to add your name to my petition below.
