When my husband and his brother were little, their father often told them they needed to be members of the Do It Now Club.

He would ask them to clean their room or do the dishes and, as kids do, they tried to put it off. My father-in-law would remind them — let’s get it done as members of the Do It Now Club.

It’s a motto I live by too — when I first got to Congress, people told me to wait my turn. Within four years, I was named the most effective member of the New Jersey House delegation.

And as governor, I won’t just admire problems. I’ll fix them, because I’m a proud member of the Do It Now Club.
