This Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate all of the time, love, and sacrifice that our mothers and mother figures pour into us so we can become the people we are today. They are the foundation not just of our families, but of our entire community. This Mother's Day, make sure to spend some quality time with your mother. To our mothers and mother figures: you all make the world a better place, and today we celebrate everything that you do! And with that, we are excited to present this week’s Reaser Report!
General Assembly Update: The Momnibus

To commemorate this Mother's Day, I would like to talk about one of the most important legislative packages from the 2025 session: the Momnibus. This set of bills and budget items focused on addressing maternal mortality, infant mortality, and the cost of childcare. Virginia is in the midst of a maternal health crisis, largely due to healthcare outcome disparities where black women are much more likely to suffer pregnancy-related complications or death during childbirth. This situation was completely unacceptable and needed to be addressed, which is why the General Assembly took massive steps this year to confront it.
During the 2025 legislative session, 12 Momnibus bills were signed into law. The bills covered a large range of policy topics, some examples include paid family leave, a pilot program for emergency childcare assistance, and legislation to assist with postpartum depression. This package is not just another piece of legislation but a lifeline for many families across our Commonwealth. It will save lives, strengthen our communities, and address shocking disparities in our healthcare system. I am proud to have voted for them and for what the General Assembly was able to accomplish this year.
Aside from general legislation, the finalized budget made a $6,763,022 investment for Momnibus priorities. This includes $2,500,000 for mobile maternal health clinics, $2,500,000 for a perinatal health hub pilot program, $550,322 to fund midwife reimbursement parity, and many other major funding priorities. While we were able to make incredible progress during this past session, we need to continue working for Virginia's mothers and tackling difficult issues embedded within our healthcare system.

Mobile Office Hours - Dulles District
Our mobile office hours series continues as we head to the Dulles District! Office hours will be held on May 24th between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Little River Elementary. If you are interested in signing up for a slot, please click the image below or use the QR code to sign up.
Mobile office hours have been taking place in each magisterial district within House District 27, as follows: Algonkian, Dulles, and Sterling. If you are interested in attending mobile office hours but do not want to drive to the other side of the county, be on the lookout for office hour opportunities in your area. Our next opportunity is in the Sterling district and will take place during the summer.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month
May is Lyme Disease Awareness month, and it serves great time to educate ourselves on a disease which becomes much more common in Spring. As the temperature rises and more of us are enjoying the outdoors, it is important to be prepared on how to identify and stop Lyme Disease cases.
Lyme disease is spread via the bite of the blacklegged tick, more widely known as the deer tick. These ticks are common throughout Virginia and are prevalent in Loudoun County. They are primarily found in suburban forested areas with both wild and domesticated animals. The ticks are most commonly found on deer, leading to their name. Untreated Lyme disease can lead to the following symptoms:
• Severe headaches and neck stiffness.
• Pain in the tendons, muscles, joints, and bones.
• Rashes on other areas of the body.
• Arthritis with severe joint pain and swelling, especially in the knees and other large joints.
• Facial palsy with the facial muscles drooping on one side.
• Nerve pain and shooting pains, numbness, or tingling in the hands and feet.
• Irregular heartbeat, dizziness, and/or shortness of breath.
• Inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.
Now that we are in Spring, deer ticks begin to be more common, leading to an upsurge in Lyme disease cases. If you are participating in outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, or camping this spring, make sure to give yourself a tick check afterwards. If you find a tick, then be sure to remove it immediately. If you are unsure how long a tick has been on your body, you can preserve it in rubbing alcohol and use the resources below to identify it. Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As your delegate, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation, and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf and help you engage with the state agency you need. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters involving private businesses.
