Happy Mother's Day, John! It's Rosa Lander and Marek Barnette.

Today, we want to take a moment to honor our amazing mom, Meg Barnette. She is a real-life superhero who is the backbone of our family, a constant source of love and support, and an incredible inspiration for us every single day.

Fast forward to 2025!

As we’ve heard, raising kids is hard. It can be even harder when your kids won’t stop pestering you to let them get tattoos.

And in case you’re wondering, John, this is actually a true story. We surprised our parents with tattoos inspired by our childhood home in Brooklyn. Marek got our street number, and Rosa got a drawing of our front steps.

When Mom finally saw the tattoos, she almost started crying because she was so moved. It was pretty emotional to honor the place where she made us feel safe and loved. That’s why we wanted to get tattoos – something permanent to carry with us forever.

As you hear nearly every day in these campaign emails, #DadLander has worked extremely hard to improve New York City. But Mom has been there every step of the way (listen to Dad brag about her here [[link removed]] ).

Mom has been an incredible role model to both of us, showing us what gender equity and women’s full participation in society look like. She’s spent her career fighting for social justice and standing up for what’s right, working at places like the Planned Parenthood and the Brennan Center for Justice.

And let’s be honest – even though our parents are good at dividing labor, everyone knows Mom has done way more loads of laundry and cooked more dinners over the years. 😂
