Great news: Within one week, our movement has raised over $34,000 (!!) to support the critical fight for racial justice and equality.
Thank you to everyone who donated; it makes a positive difference for our collective movement. We have so much work to do in dismantling systemic racism in this country and that is why I am proud to be an original cosponsor of the Justice in Policing Act of 2020. This bill includes:
✔️Bold Unprecedented Reforms to End Police Misconduct, Reform Immunity Laws, and Ban Racial Profiling
✔️Ban on Choke and Carotid Holds
✔️Transformation of the Culture of Policing to Address Systemic Racism and Help Save Lives
✔️Requires State and Local Police to Use Existing Federal Funds to Purchase and Fully Utilize Body Cameras
✔️Empowers US Justice Department Civil Rights Division to Investigate and Mandate Reform of Individual Departments Through Court Orders
Let's keep this positive momentum going and raise $40,000 for these important organizations working on the frontlines during this revolutionary time!

Help spread the news by sharing this with your communities. It's going to take all of us working together to dismantle our country's long history of systemic racism.
Thanks for your support, your work, and your energy focused on this fight.
In solidarity,
Peter

Hundreds of cities across the nation. Every state. 18 countries and counting. And hundreds of thousands of people protesting police brutality. Demanding justice not just for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, and so many more. Demanding a reform of a system that - tragically - was built to do exactly what it's doing.
It's not enough to turn our social media profile pics black for one day and hope the problem solves itself.
It won't. We must do more, and the first step is supporting the community-based organizations speaking truth to power.
That's why I'm pledging to match the first $5,000 in donations to this group of six nonprofits that could use our support right now as they work with protesters on the frontlines. Chip in now to amplify their voices in this critical moment.

These organizations are:
Eugene/Springfield NAACP ensures the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and works to eliminate race-based discrimination through education programs and events for public awareness and community building.
Campaign Zero aims to end police brutality by providing the public and government officials with urgent, research-based policy solutions.
Know your Rights Campaign was founded by Colin Kaepernick to hold education seminars across the country for black and brown youth.
NAACP Legal Defense Fund funds support landmark legal battles, protect voters across the nation, and advance the cause of racial justice, equality, and an inclusive society.
National Police Accountability Project is a project of the National Lawyers Guild, which was founded in 1937 as the first racially integrated national bar association. In 1999, NPAP was created as a non-profit to protect the human and civil rights of individuals in their encounters with law enforcement and detention facility personnel. The central mission of NPAP is to promote the accountability of law enforcement officers and their employers for violations of the Constitution and the laws of the United States.
Black Lives Matter Global Fund seeks to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.
It's critical that those of us with agency and privilege stand up and take heavy mantle to lead the way or we know there will be more. Let's make real work happen by confronting our country's original sins head on.
Start right now by making a contribution to these organizations.
